A recent survey by LV= shows that the Isle of Wight is the top choice as a retirement destination for pensioners. That comes as no surprise to us – or indeed probably to any of the people lucky enough to live on our beautiful sunny Island.
It is a fact that many people first come to the Island on a school trip or spend many happy summers here on holiday. Those memories run deep, making the IOW a strong first choice when it comes to planning a retirement by the sea.
One of the things that stands out when we are dealing with enquiries from older clients looking to retire or downsize to the Island is the great choice of property in some stunning locations.
If someone is downsizing from the home counties or London, the Island looks great value for money. It is also well within reach for downsizers moving here from further afield. That helps the Island property market to remain buoyant, but also makes a strong mainland advertising presence an essential part of successfully selling property for our clients.
Low crime, some truly great walks and scenery, country pubs and a wide variety of social events all combine to make the Island a superb choice for those wanting a slightly quieter time of it after a lifetime of work. Quality of life is high.
Wherever you live on the Island you are never more than a short drive away from the coast but with the convenience of a good range of shops and amenities at hand in the larger towns.
One of our recent innovations has been the introduction of Virtual Reality (VR) in our online property listings, allowing mainland movers to really look closely at a property before they travel to the Island. VR provides a full 360 degree tour of the property and gardens from the comfort of your armchair. It really brings a property to life and is just like being at the property on a full walk around viewing. Combined with our professional photography, floor plans and knowledgable experienced staff, we really bring property to life and get it noticed.
This use of VR makes the shortlisting of favourite houses for mainland buyers far easier, and what’s more it allows us to generate interest in properties that might otherwise have been overlooked. It saves time and effort for both buyers and vendors. Buyers travel and book viewings confident in advance that they like the look of a property and vendors do not stay in and clear up unnecessarily for unproductive viewings. Please ask us for details if you are thinking of buying, selling or are just plain curious!
Here at Trigg & Co we can see no reason why the Island will not remain the top choice for retirement for many years to come. We have lots of new enquiries every week and the market is busy with new buyers.
Island life is truly getting better every day.
